“Giocheremo con i fiori”
Abruzzo DOC Pecorino

Recently recovered in our territory, Pecorino is a low yield native variety with an important oenological value, that is deserving wine lovers’ attention. The gradual harvesting and a traditional, not intrusive vinification creates this version, which is aimed at expressing Pecorino's fundamental characteristics, exalting, without exaggerating, the fresh and not banal aromatic complexity and the peculiar tasting profile, where alcohol, acidity and minerality are present in a very good balance.

“Giocheremo con i fiori”
Abruzzo DOC Pecorino

VARIETY: Pecorino 100%
VINEYARD: surface area 4 Ha
altitude 300 m/above sea level
orientation NE
TRAINING: guyot. 2.50 x 0.80 meters
YEAR OF PLANTING: 2005
SOIL: clay-limestone
YIELD: 50 hl/Ha
FERMENTATION: 100% steel, with temperature control
AGEING: 100% steel
ALCOHOL: 13.5-14.5%
SERVING TEMPERATURE: 12° C
TASTING NOTES: the straw yellow with light shades of gold is a dense introduction to a full body mouth. Fine and elegant nose, of pear, broom and gardenia, rounded off by hints of honey, but vibrant with the typical herbal flavours of the variety (sage, rosemary, lavender).
It enters the mouth smoothly and here the zesty acidity and minerality move up the tasting balance giving a long, mouth-watering persistence.

“Bianchi Grilli”
Abruzzo DOC Pecorino

At our estate we only grow a few types of different native grapes, which we love to turn into single-variety wines to try to make them express all the characteristics as well as possible in our area for each single vintage. With the name “Bianchi Grilli” we define some very limited white wine productions born from our will and pleasure to study in depth and experiment, according to our grapes' potential. Here in Italy, “avere grilli per la testa” (literally “to have crickets in one’s head”) means to have strange, creative, funny ideas in mind. But “Bianchi Grilli” are some “white crickets” that we are definitely not able to get out of our head.

Abruzzo DOC Pecorino

GRAPES: Pecorino 100%
VINEYARD:
area 4 Ha
altitude 300 m/above sea level
orientation NE
TRAINING: guyot. 2.50 x 0.80 meters
YEAR OF PLANTING: 2005
SOIL: clay-limestone
YIELD: 40 hl/Ha
FERMENTATION: barrique
AGEING: 9 months sur lie, 12 months in bottle
ALCOHOL: 14-14.5%
SERVING TEMPERATURE: 14°C
TASTING NOTES: the maturation on good fermentation lees exalts the balsamic and officinal herb spiciness of the variety, which seems to lose the youthful aromatic character, and to gain, through its bottle life, a deeper, more complex and important tone, probably expressing more authentically the soul of the grape, which is still not well explored.
The naturally high acidity and minerality interacts with the typical roundness of barrel ageing without being tamed, on the contrary giving evidence of Pecorino's great potential.

“Bianchi Grilli”
Trebbiano d’Abruzzo DOC

But “Bianchi Grilli” are some “white crickets” that we are definitely not able to get out of our head.
We planted Trebbiano quite recently in our vineyard, with the will to honour this variety that is so important for Abruzzo's tradition.

“rosa-ae”
Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo DOC

In our estate, this is Montepulciano's first expression for each vintage and the first indicator of its quality. The extremely careful selection in the vineyard and on the sorting table gives the wine good body and maturity, enriched by fresh flavours given by a low temperature fermentation, giving further evidence of Montepulciano's flexibility.

The peculiar character makes the wine very pleasant and flexible in combination with several kinds of dishes, ranging from Italian antipasti to first courses, like pasta and pulse or grain-based soups, to main courses of white meat or elaborately prepared fish. Perfect with “Brodetto alla vastese”.

Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC

It was the first wine produced at our estate. An elegant and personal interpretation of the Montepulciano in our territory, it is obtained from repeated harvests in the same plots of the whole Loreto Aprutino vineyard, followed by a further selection on the sorting table. The use of wood in the ageing phase has the purpose of helping the wine to reach a natural stability, keeping a fruity purity and enriching it with a light, well balanced spicy complexity.

Good density, typical and elegant nose, with clean and complex fruit, lightly enriched by spicy hints coming from the old vineyard and from a not overwhelming ageing in wood. The firm body gives the wine a good smoothness, well balanced by the fine tannins, which, in combination with the natural minerality and the well measured acidity, contribute to an elegant, long finish.

“Cocciapazza”
Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC

It has the ancient, curious name of the area where our vineyard is planted (in the Abruzzo dialect “coccia pazza” means “crazy head”), as it is intended to be the best traditional expression of the Montepulciano in our land. The repeated harvests, normally three per vintage, are carried out in the plot with the best soil and climate conditions, capable of giving the fullest bodied and most mature wines.

Full volume, woven by a silky and mature tannin texture. Round and velvety with a long lasting finish.

“Mazzamurello”
Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC

It is obtained through the special “sur lies” process applied to the best batches of the vintage. The peculiar aromas given by this technique sometimes reveal themselves in a slightly unusual way compared to traditional Montepulciano during the aging in barrique. This has reminded us of the name of a playful elf of the Abruzzo tradition, that we imagine living hidden among our barrels and playing with the wine inside.
